PDF file import issues in Quark

I've had the following error recently when importing pdfs into Quark 6.52: "the pdf file xxxxx.pdf cannot be imported because security permissions are set or it is password protected" I receive anywhere from 80-100 pdf files a day that we import into our Quark templates. I've never had an entire batch have an issue like this. The files work on my co-worker's computer, not mine. The funny part is I had files that I transferred earlier last week that worked and now THOSE security permissions have been changed and I can no longer use those files either... what can I do/change to make these files work?

quark and pdf import....joy of joys

ensure the pdf is a 1.3 - as quark cannot import anything above that (say bye bye to live transparency ) and you need to make the pdf unprotected

<this might help>

http://www.planetpdf.com/tools.asp?webpageid=550&TBToolID=1145

as a not so radical option you could always do it all in indesign - templates the lot - then you wont have transparency issues, pdf version issues and all will be good.

as to why it's happened - sorry - no idea - this is just a solution/workaround

hope it helps Very Happy

actually that link wont help - apologies - it'll still ask for a password

i'll have a fish around - there's an acrobat plug-in that gets around security hassles like this...

It could be a system level problem, not Quark specific. Not sure about PC users but AppleMac users like myself can (sometimes) solve problems like this by repairing their Disk Permissions using Disk Utility. Might not help, just a suggestion.
