Just a hello

Just a quick introduction. I was hired to "bring this department to the next level." Right now they are doing all their preflight manually. Yikes!

No one kidding anyone, that is still the best pre-flight, depending on how many jobs daily go through.

I agree...to some extent...but we do a monthly direct mail envelope full of advertisements and coupons, and it just doesn't work out for us. Mostly checking for trapping and overprinting of black text. We cover 3 states, so batch pre-flighting would be REALLY nice.

What do you specialize in?

Point of purchase, mailers, flyers - we print for a lot of colleges and universities also, so nothing is ever correct, so it has to be all manual to get it right. Plus, almost everything has to be color corrected before being used

Oh yeah...love color correction. I was at an ad agency for nearly 7 years, and at a printing company for 2...so I know that stuff. Fun, fun.

Been doing it for 17 years now, so it doesn't affect me anymore. The only difference is that there are more ways now to turn out garbage, unlike only a few ways years ago. EVERYONE THINKS THEY CAN DESIGN, even the secretaries now a days

LOL! So true! Ever had to deal with Publisher? Whoever came up with that program should be shot. I've been in the "biz" for about 14 years. Seems like I could always learn more. Right now, having a creative block, so may have to walk away and come back to it.

Publisher, love it, nothing like it exporting RGB no matter what you do. My favorite, along with many others too. Thanks Mr. Gates for that fine program

And everyone with Microsoft Frontpage is now a webmaster...

Oh well, helps seperate the pretenders from contenders. Someone has to make all this stuff print, thus our existance justified.

Ha ha
