printing single page or multi-page pdf files for publication

I did not see an answer in my other post about the single page or multi-page question. With PDF-X-Robot are pages coming out as single pages or multi-page pdf files. My printer always wants single page pdf files and I have to print each Quark Xpress page, one by one, naming and saving in correct sequence. Sometimes I spend hours when it's time to submit a job. It is so much work and I can't trust anybody else to do it right, too many clicks and too easy to mess up.

RE: printing single page or multi-page acrobat pdf files

Hi mikey, I'm wondering that too. I have to save all my PDF files as single pages so that I can easily isolate any problems and or corrections. I too am curious how PDF-X-Robot saves files as single or multi-page files.

Also does it handle multiple documents in a job, say I have a publication or catalog that has 128 pages. That would actually be in 8 or 10 different quark documents. What would I have to do if I had PDF robot? Without it, I'm looking at hours of work, methodically printing/saving every page to an appropriately named, pdf file.

So, out of these 8 or 10 different Quark Xpress files, I have to save 128 pdf files with all fonts and images embedded. I'm looking at about 6 hours to make pdf and proofs of those pdf files. What is different with pdf robot?

Here is something I copied from www.software-robotics.com main page on the PDF-X-Robot software. As far as I have read, this is the lifesave to a steady workflow in medium to large printing and publishing companies. JoePostscript is the creator of the software, as well as someone who uses it every day, and watches over this forum.

"PDF-X-Robot™ controls every setting. Processing pages accurately by preflighting, postscripting, distilling, and output to proof, all hands free. All your fonts and graphics are completely verified and locked in page by page. You get perfect, single page, PDF files and proofs. It can even automatically deliver a High Res, Low Res, and proof for every page!"

Single Pages from Quark (AND) InDesign, Fast, Easy, Accurate

Hi eddieb12180,

That's the good thing I like about PDF-X-Robot is that I developed it for both Quark Xpress and Adobe InDesign to provide a common preflight and output method for both applications. One license comes with support of both.

Badia Export is cool but is pretty much a consumer level tool when compared to PDF-X-Robot. PDF-X-Robot will do what you want and is way more powerful a workflow for output. I first developed it for magazine and catalog production specifically, then have evolved it to be a good tool for all general commercial print work.

RE: Automatic PDF Workflow with PDF-X-Robot for Publications

Hi, Wow, got an email about this post and it was quite a flashback. This post was a pre-sales question from about 4 years ago when I was looking at PDF Robot thinking of buying it. I had become really beat down of going through long sessions of getting publications ready to print. Since then I have saved so much time using PDF-X-Robot and it has been the best thing that I ever bought. I recommend it highly. I am a long time prep person/design person who can definitely prepare a magazine to pdf without PDF Robot, but why? The way i see it now, it would be like walking a couple of miles to work when you have a car to drive. Or, like JP said once on here somewhere, like walking a long flight of stairs right next to an escalator.

All other utilities out there for exporting or preparing PDf are just that. Little widget utilities that do a step or two are nothing compared to PDF-X-Robot. This is a workflow and actually does all the heavy lifting, completely. When you use it, you know right away that it was developed by someone who knows WTF they are doing. The support by JP hands on is excellent he has all the answers every time. The support that I get on here by other users is very good too. I noticed reading these old posts that "quark_xpress" posted here too. She bought robot about the same time I did I think. So has been using it for a few years and maybe will report what it has done for her. If you are in prepress, design, or desktop publishing this is the most important technical advance in years and you should get a copy.

Another way is to export the PDF out of Quark or whatever as one PDF multipage file, open in Acrobat Pro., go to the Document Menu/Extract Pages and select all the pages and single pages. That will split the PDF file into individual PDF page files.
