IKON Collaborates With Creo to Deliver Color Workflow System for Production Print Environments

Hmm. This is curious, Creo making lots of moves lately with software. First, they killed off the Brisque. I had seen a creo/scitex rip on a docutech once over at Moore/Wallace and I knew they had dabbled in that color rip stuff there but I don't think they were getting much traction. Now Kodak has NexPress and also had bought DigiMaster from Heidelberg I think. We just got a new Digimaster at work, it came from Kodak.
You know, if I think back about ten years or so, the first word I ever heard about variable data printing was from Scitex. Now, indigo/HP is leading all that technology and I'm not sure what exactly Creo had acquired from Scitex in terms of VDP technology. But I assume that the variable data printing rip techgnology that Scxitex had got swallowed by Creo, or maybe not? Scitex actually is still operating with a huge fast drum inkjet device, maybe Scitex still has some variable data printing rip technology.
But as Creo kills off Brisque, reinforces Prinergy, Kodak has printing technology for VDP, maybe Prinergy will start being a VDP rip to drive digimaster and other color copier devices. I'm not sure what Kodak really has anymore in terms of color copier but several years ago, they had a very strong color copier as well. Maybe Kodak will put legs on that using Creo's rip expertise to drive variable data printing to these color copiers, NexPress, and Digimaster.
