DS Screen hits Record Sales of B2 Format PlateRite 2055 CTP
Screen experiences record sales of its B2 PlateRite 2055
Source: Screen Europe, 2005-Oct-28
About DS Screen PlateRite 2055Vi
Screen's B2 PlateRite 2055Vi system features a long-lasting violet laser light-source. Space efficient with a footprint of 1,985 x 984 mm te platesetter supports plate sizes ranging from 280 x 450 mm to 635 x 754 mm and produces 20 plates/hour at 2400 dpi all while maintaining consistently high quality. The violet platesetter can be equipped with optional internal punch units as well as an optional autoloader cassette.
Over the last ten months, Screen UK and its distributor SOS NW have seen an explosion in sales of CTP devices particularly in the North West of England. SOS NW has completed over 10 Screen violet CTP installations in the region and the popularity of the systems is set to continue.
"Screen's PlateRite 2055Vi violet platesetter has been our biggest success story this year because the package we provide is not only superb in terms of functionality but offers value for money and a rapid return on investment," explains Aaron Broome, Digital Manager at SOS NW. "I believe in terms of quality and longevity, Screen's products are unrivalled."
The PlateRite 2055Vi CTP system from Screen offers high-quality CTP output in an affordable, compact, flatbed unit. It features a long-lasting 60mW violet laser diode, giving users the ability to process violet-sensitive photopolymer plates, supports plate sizes ranging from 280 x 450 mm to 635 x 754 mm and can output an impressive 20 plates/hour at 2400 dpi, all while maintaining consistently high quality.
As workflow becomes more important to B2 CTP users in order to increase automation and functionality, Screen offers its customers Trueflow Rite, its JDF ticket-based entry-level workflow, which gives the printer significant functionality at an affordable price and helps minimise time wasted for short turnarounds. "Trueflow Rite has really made a difference. For little more than the price of an ordinary RIP our customers receive a comprehensive Screen workflow," continues Aaron.
"SOS NW has enjoyed a great relationship with Screen for many years and their support gives us the ability to compete with the industry's bigger players as well as contributing to record CTP sales for SOS in 2005" concludes Aaron. "We Northerner's know a good deal when we see one!"

RE: DS Screen, Record Sales of B2 Format PlateRite 2055Vi
Hi Dex,
I was just on
DS Screen USA
website and saw no mention of this new device. It sounds interesting and like it may be a cost effective option for small to mid-size printers. I looked at
DS Screen Europe
website and they have it listed. Interestingly they have several devices listed there for CTP that are not listed in the USA website. I wonder what's up with that? Are these devices not available in the US or is the webmaster that far behind? I'm hoping Screen can comment on that. Here's some stuff about it, it's an interesting device from screen. You know Screen, they've never made a turkey yet.
The PlateRite 2055Vi features a 60mW violet laser diode with the ability to process violet-sensitive photopolymer plates, the new PlateRite 2055Vi further enlarges the Screen range of CTP devices designed to handle the emerging plate technologies. The PlateRite 2055Vi incorporates fully automated inline punching to output 20 4-up plates per hour.
PlateRite 2055Vi has Flatbed imaging technology and is designed for the small to medium printer. It can do 20 plates per hour @ 2400dpi, is automated for operator free running with a 50 plate autoloader. The device can come with optional internal punching inline.
• Resolutions 1200, 2400, 3000 dpi
• Max. format - 760 x 635 mm (semi-automated)
• Max. format - 754 x 635 mm (Autoloading)
• Min. format - 450 x 280 mm
• Media thickness - 0,15 - 0,3 mm _________________ JoePostscript -- support administrator
