I've just installed a new laser in my machine, and am trying to get the thing back up. When I try to build a calibration table, it runs for a while, the say's welcome to forever, you've been here <xx> seconds and sticks there. Any ideas?

This is not a good situation for you. Don't take this wrong because I have to tell you my honest hard earned opinion on these machines. Don't mean to dog your machine but I am compelled to let you (and others) know what this device is all about. Once we replace our laser with three in a row that came in DOA. That was with Barco manufacturers parts. This device has a horrid history. Me, I had two of the fully automated and it made a real impression on me. Our dept was like a Gerber repair shop, one was always down. We presses chasing us daily until we replaced them it was never ending chaos.

I don't know, I have never seen or heard of that error. I would find any used equipment dealer that handles these units and try them? I also recommend you look for a new machine. These machines are really weak performers and can go at any time. They have problems that their manufacturers techs couldn't figure out back when they were still being sold and supported. These are first generation CTP, visible light, and nternal drum. The C42 embodies everything that CTP manufacturers have learned not to do.

i have the same CTP .I had change also the laser and tryed from the main panel to build a table but it happened the same it satacks.
So I connect to te Crescent via hyper terminal and built the table from the terminal using some service comand.
Do you have service manual for this maschine.
I could send it by e-mail if you dont have it.
Wher did youbuy the laser?

Just a follow up on my laser problem. I finally found someone who knows about the machine, he instructed me to reupload the EE proms, and I'm back up and running once again. I really haven't had a lot of problems with this machine, I've had the laser replaced 3 times in 7 years including this time, but otherwise, I've been pleased with the opperation of the machine. We are looking to replace it in the near future, but not because of performance but obsolescense and inability to obtain parts.

I hate to admit it but I work on the Barco C42s. We are trying to obsolete them out. If you still need help call me but I might try and sell you something else newer....
