I had read about RipIt OpenRip Symphony recently while reviewing RipIt CTP for some members. I was very surprised at the system supporting true Adobe and with an Adobe IRT (in rip trapping) option. I would see how much it costs fully loaded with the Adobe IRT option. If it is not much cheaper I would go for a Xitron Xenith Adobe Rip which is just under 40K with Adobe IRT, the PC and all. But if the core RIP is 18k it may be much cheaper. Does that come with trapping and the hardware? What about an interface card for the Fuji CTP, is that extra or included?

Xitron is just known to stay current and up to date and has allot of stability as a vendor. RipIt may be cheaper, may be cheap enough to go with it. I have not tested the system but it's Adobe with Adobe IRT. I would look at their imposition support to Preps. I would be looking at their support to trap before or after the screening. This may mean that your contract color inkjets will have to be screened, or output with no trapping, either is not optimum but should be workable.

There may be many output formats like 8bit Tiff Out and such that it may not offer what other RIPs offer. But at it's core you have Adobe and it will look and work very similar to all other Adobe RIPs in terms of core function and feature. I would definitely go for this over Harlequin there days.

Thanks for the quick reply. Just met with the Ripit rep today and found out that that price of under $18k comes fully loaded with the Adobe IRT option included and imposition software thats called StripRite.
